Chiang Mai is a beautiful city surrounded by so much green nature. Sometimes I want to work outside the center, closer to nature, and in a more quiet and inspiring environment. I wandered all over the suburbs of Chiang Mai, searching for lovely and tranquil places to work, and the outcome is in front of you – my recommended spots for remote working around Chiang Mai. Enjoy!
with a peaceful lake and the green mountains in front, this is one of the most beautiful places for a coffee in Chiang Mai, located just 15 minutes drive south of the city center. Fernpresso has a great coffee, a variety of sweets, and a (bit pricy) food menu. Fernpresso has two branches in the city, and the one in the lake has a side coworking room with all the amenities you need to work comfortably.
Munchies Café is a charming and cozy garden cafe located in Mae Hia district, southwest of the city center. The surroundings here are quiet and peaceful, and right next to the cafe, there are some local farms with crops and livestock. The design is home-style, combining many wooden elements, plants, flowerpots, big lightful windows, and red bricks. The courtyard has a casual and peaceful vibe, and people come here often to relax, study, or read a book. There are not many food options here (toasts, breakfasts, macaroni, ramen soup, and some pastries), but the food is nice, clean, and affordable.
I find it very comfortable for work, the chairs are very good, they have electric plugs, and the atmosphere is so peaceful and relaxed, so I can recharge with energy every time I raise my head from the computer.
Much Room Cafe
this place is simply magical! It is trendy among locals, that find here a pure relax not far away from the city center. It’s a big garden with plenty of tables and seats, a small jungle within the city vibes. The building has a mushroom shape, with a cozy and inviting atmosphere inside.
The outside is a spacious garden full of lively green trees and vegetation. They even have a water fountain that makes you feel like you are in a waterfall. The food is nice, and the coffee is very good. They have plenty of comfortable seats with electric plugs inside. If you don’t need a fast intranet, this place is perfect for work. Overall highly recommended!
Graincafe.cnx is a lovely place in the Suthep area, south of the city center. I find it entirely by mistake as it’s hidden next to the highway, but it’s so quiet and pleasant inside. I got in and saw a nice cozy coffee shop with a clean, modern design, a few comfortable seats, and electric plugs everywhere. They have very good coffee and some sweets, a great workplace, I thought to myself, and then I saw they have an entire additional space inside, full of coworking-style seats. They also have a small garden outside for fresh air and sun (next to the highway but still…). Overall I highly recommend this place! Enjoy!
Goodvibes is a lovely Cafe located about 15 minutes south of Chiang Mai’s center. It’s a beautiful place with a spacious and charming garden, beautiful decoration, and a good atmosphere (good vibes it is!). they have inside and outside seating and very comfortable seats. The coffee here is good, and their cheesecake is the best I had in Chiang Mai. Overall an excellent place to chill or to work.
Baan Pie Charin Cafe & Bistro
A charming place located right next to Wat Phrathat Doi Kham temple. The design and the green surroundings will make you feel very comfortable here. They have a large cake variety and some food (mainly Thai, a bit higher than usual). The coffee is good, the chairs are excellent here, and the internet is fast—overall a great place to work close to nature.
RoastniyomCoffee : NSP – Northern Science Park
Roastniyom is a chain of coffee shops, and you can find it all over Chiang Mai. I find that this particular place has almost everything that I need because, as you can see, I like the local vibes outside of the city center rush. The coffee shop is located in the STeP – Science and Technology Park of Chiang Mai University, and it’s pretty popular among students and workers of the park. The coffee here is very good, and they also serve some sweets and paced sandwiches.
The WIFI is super fast, and the tables are suitable for work and comfortable. The place has a lot of light, and overall it feels very spacious and cozy.
Kumo Bake is A little coffee shop and bakery located in the Suthep area. The location is tranquil (about 15 minutes from the city center) and full of green surroundings and landscapes. They serve coffee and drinks, and they have a small bakery cabin with lovely homemade cakes. You have 2-3 dedicated desks inside suitable for laptops, and you can also sit outside in the fresh air.
